Promotions and Marketing Director of the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas) Abdul Khalid Maulod said a total of 73 films in theaters last year compared to 49 films in 2011, 39 films in 2010 and 27 films in 2009.
"This increase shows the Malaysian film industry is growing by leaps and bounds" he said when discussing the topic, entitled 'Roadmap Film Industry Malaysia - Hopes and Challenges' in the film talk session here in conjunction with the Seri Temasek Award will take place tonight.
Abdul Khalid said the Finas had identified three of this year's festival to be accompanied by the publishers Malaysia as another effort to promote and market the film at the international level.
